Louis CK's work doesn't resonate with me because he is successful, or nice, or even because he's funny. He has one undying trait that is difficult to uncover in everyday life, let alone in the modern circles of fame and celebrity. Honesty. Not honesty in the sense that every story he tells is composed entirely of facts, but his fearless subject matter and brutal self reflection seem to come from a place of simultaneous confidence and vulnerability. The work ethic and determination it took to hone his craft to such a level is difficult to imagine, but whatever the secret is I want to learn it.
NOTE: that whole part above about fearless subject matter means NSFW without headphones and/or a healthy sense of humor.
